FMCSA Shuts Down Seven-truck Fleet – Preventable?
The FMCSA said in its order, “Bar D Bar Trucking’s continued use of unsafe vehicles and its failure to adequately oversee its drivers to ensure compliance with federal safety regulations substantially increases the likelihood of serious harm to its drivers and to the motoring public.”
OTA’s Loggers’ Exemption from 30-minute Break Extended
Originally granted in 2015, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) extended the hours-of-service exemption to Oregon loggers with the Oregon Trucking Associations (OTA) and the Department of Energy.

FMCSA Denies HOS Exemption Request For Truckers in Natural Gas, Oil Sites
Federal trucking regulators have denied American Trucking Associations’ hours-of-service exemption request that would have allowed truck drivers working at natural gas and oil sites to exclude waiting time from their calculations of on-duty time.
Currently, only specially trained drivers of commercial motor vehicles that are constructed specifically to service oil- and natural-gas extraction sites may use the exemption.
